England have to win to go through. I don't hold much hope as we are shit!!! If these players are our future then I think its safe to say England won't do any better in the next 5-8 years.

It's only going to get worse Chris. The amount of money being pumped into the transfer market by newly rich clubs like Man City will see even more foreign mercenaries come over to England for the wages.

We just aren't bringing the players through at the top level anymore.

You are right. To be honest I did not expect us to do much during this tourmament but I was still shocked at how bad we were. No technique and looked uncomfortable on the ball (even by Englands standards). Our game plan seemed to be to hoof it forward and get crosses in the box.

The problems are fundamental (right at the grassroots, to use a cliche).

The way we coach, the academies, the influx of foreign players and the simple fact that, although we invented the game, other countries have surpassed us.

England is in relative terms a very small island. Once the USA get to grips with the culture of football and more people start playing the sport over there they will have an enormous talent pool. Although it is our national sport, the number of potential players here will eventually pale in comparison to the USA.

Our leagues will be full of foreigners if the big clubs keep bringing in sub par players. The likes of Diouf who went to Liverpool and ended up at Bolton for example.

The other problem is that, for some reason, English players have become ridiculously expensive. I believe Andy Carroll was around £35 million?!

Once the current crop of underachievers retire then there will be very few world class players to replace them sadly.

Can't see England winning a major trophy in my lifetime :(

Vamos Chileno!!!!!!!!!!
