Wow it's funny to see a post about this because today was the first time I actually got to go in the one nearest me. I pass it often, it shares a building with Staples and Michaels craft store. Im usually across the street at Sports authority or Home Depot when I think about going in but it is always packed and really a problem trying to get in and find a spot in their lot which just isnt big enough. Well today I just walked over. Pretty impressive. Some of the stuff they have I ususally buy elsewhere but they have a nice selection. The store is run very well and the employees seem friendly and helpful. I just wanted to look around but ended up with like 4 items. I will have to plan another trip there and graba basket on the way in next time.

As far as the pricing goes, it depends on what you get. I pay $2 a pound of sunflower seeds (roasted and taken out of the shell) at TJ, the grocery store sells 1 pound of sunflower seeds in the shells for a lot more $3+ . Sometimes their fruit is more then grocery stores, but fruit pricing is always all over the place.

All my housemates get stuff pretty much exclusively from Trader Joes. I don't because its too expensive for the stuff I usually get and its a 20 minute drive versus a 2 minute drive to my normal grocery store. I also don't notice a difference between their stuff and Stop n Shop stuff provided you shop right.

The one local to me has exactly what you described. Michael and staples, across the street from SA...

we don't have a trader joe's on the island, and in fact i have never been to one, but there IS something extremely love-inspiring about a great health food store. the one here on the island is mana foods: here's ryan the produce manager. he knows me on sight. i don't know if he's happy to see me, or bummed cuz he knows i'm going to make him box up 40 pounds of local oranges...
