I looked around for a topic on this, but couldn't find one. I know Ross has the 2 video series posted on his blog. According to this it may not be going well. Pity.

The NY State Legislature does whatever It can to drive out/ or prevent Business from coming to New York. They're a bunch of corrupt disfunctional morons.

I drive to Jersey (AC, Rahway) to see fights. They also have a lot of small sando and muay thai exhibitions on LI and upstate.

I live in upstate. I'd like to say one thing. No taxation without representation. We get FUCKED up here by down state. Everyone I know wants to leave NY. This is one more reason I might move with my parents to Texas... They are all morons. Hillary took a huge bribe from (I believe) the boxing commission. And several other politicians received nice "donations" as well. Boxing is deeply rooted in NY. Especially down state. You think they would want people to watch more combat sports in general. Bringing more people to possibly watch boxing along side with mma. But no. Instead of letting us vote for it they act like a bunch of retards and don't listen. Oh well. Taxes here are already shitty enough. I only stay for the people I love. We can only fight on reservations here. Which is ghetto if you ask me L-O-L

Also tired of reservation fights. Also there's precious few decent (MMA) gyms in upstate NY. Buffalo has 1-2 and Rochester has only 1 that I know of. If mma is legalized I imagine we'll see more places open up in the bigger cities here.

I agree with you that our state government is the pits and that New York Taxes are out of control.

But Long Island does not fuck upstate. We send millions and millions of dollars every year in taxes to albany which never comes back down to us. We have a hand in subsidizing the SUNY system and thus the one horse wal-mart towns that are built around them.

If Long Island and the five burrows left New York then Upstate would be really fucked.

Well thankfully Buffalo isn't considered Upstate, it's Western NY. Buffalo is almost entirely self-sufficient to the state of NY. Between Niagara Falls supplying NYC with most of its energy, instead of it's hometown, among taxes and other things, Buffalo does a whole lot to fund the Empire State.

I agree. Only the current desperation for every sheckle they can scrounge brought the legislature+governor to even lower themselves by considering MMA.

Sorry for the upstate v downstate thing ...it's as old as the hills.

There's no way it can be argued that legalizing MMA in NY would be anything but a net plus for business in NY.
...not that NY has had any interest in doing anything positive for business in 40+ years. Silly me.
